What should I bring to swim lessons?
You need to bring a swimsuit for you, plus flipflops to wear at poolside and a big towel (ideally hooded) to wrap your baby in when he/she comes out of the pool. During the winter months, please be sure to bring a hat for your baby to wear on the way home.
What should my baby wear for baby swimming?
Double Nappy System
Like most private babyswim schools, we use the "double-nappy system" to avoid the little accidents that can result in a very costly pool closure!
Babies should wear a re-usuable swim nappy (or a disposable swim nappy) covered by a CLOSE-FITTING neoprene nappy (i.e. a Konfidence Nappycova or Splashabout Happy Nappy).
Babywarma/Baby Wetsuit
We STRONGLY advise that you purchase a Babywarma or wetsuit for your baby if he/she is under 12 months of age. Babies bodies cannot retain heat the way adults can, and so a babywarma/wetsuit will help your baby to remain comfortable throughout the lesson. The temperature at our pools sometimes fluctuates within a degree or so and babies over 12 months and Toddlers can sometimes feel cold....so we strongly advise that they also wear a wetsuit or at least bring one along each lesson in case the water is a little cooler on the day.
Toddler's Nappy Requirements
Toddlers should also adhere to the double nappy system up to the age of at least 3 and until they have been COMPLETELY POTTY-TRAINED FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS.
